ETHIOPIA
A month in the cradle of humanity
The Route
Ethiopia is like nowhere else on the planet, a beautiful country blessed with a peerless history, fabulous wildlife and some of the most welcoming people you're likely to meet. We began in Addis Ababa, and drove to Bahir Dar aside lake Tana where we island hopped and walked amongst the coffee groves to the Blue Nile falls. From there we took local minibuses to Gondar and then onto the Simien mountains. We spent 2 days walking along the 'roof of the world' alongside troops of baboons. We then headed to Lalibella, home of the famous underground churches. My favorite place was our final stop, the holy city of Harar. The brightly coloured streets weave around houses, churches and markets and at night, Hyenas run through the streets.
